It’s been a couple of weeks since we did a ‘Meet our Team’ blogpost, and with a team that is growing quickly they are ever-more important to get to know our team.
This week we caught up with Andrea Inglis, our Account Manager here at The Point.1888 who has been with us now for the last 2 months. Andrea was brought into The Point.1888 to focus on reinventing Story.1888, our creative marketing agency. She works closely with Martin McLaughlin, our Head of Partnerships to secure new business for Story.1888, as well as looking after our existing clients. We spoke to her this week to learn a little more about her and her career to date…
Tell us a bit more about your career to date and studies?
So, I originally went to University to study Sport and Exercise Science, and about 2.5 years in I realised it’s actually not what I want to do at all, so whilst working full time as a sales admin I studied a digital marketing course. I’ve now been in the wonderful world of marketing for 4 years! I’ve always been quite creative and absolutely love that no marketing campaign is ever the same. Each client has a different goal and demographic and being able to target their audience specifically means it’s always exciting and unique. I’ve always worked on the agency side of marketing and love that this lets me work on a variety of campaigns or projects at the same time. I’ve worked with some amazing clients in the past on entire rebranding, mailer campaigns and launch events, and I’m so excited for the new clients I’m going to be working with at Story.1888 and The Point.1888.
How are you finding your move to The Point.1888?
I remember when I first found out about the Account Manager position at The Point.1888, and thinking yep, that’s exactly where I want to be. I know everyone says it, but I’ve never worked with so many successful, motivated and lovely people. Everyone is eachothers biggest cheerleaders. I know I’m still a newbie in the team but I feel like part of the family already. There are big things coming for both The Point.1888 and Story.1888 and I’m so excited I get to be part of the successful journey.
What is it about the licensing industry that you love?
Licensing is a whole new world to me, and although I am a marketeer through and through, I absolutely love watching the rest of the team do their thing. You often think about a licensed product (without even knowing it’s licensed) and think, oh that’s clever I wonder who came up with that idea? It’s great that I can learn all about the world of licensing from the commercial team, but also connect those direct links to marketing. It’s a fascinating industry and I think the experience the team have at The Point.1888, will only accelerate the growth and success of Story.1888.
What might we find you doing in your spare time?
I always find these questions so hard, because I don’t think I’m just one type of person. I love staying at home, cooking and watching a great film on the sofa, but I also love being out with my friends or on holiday exploring new places. I like to seize each opportunity as it happens, whether it’s a chill weekend with no plans or out socialising every night. My partner and I have just bought our first home, so quite often at the moment you’ll find us entertaining our friends and family. I used to be quite an avid gym go-er, so that’s something I really need to get back into in my spare time.
What are you excited about for 2021?
Hugging! Traveling! Weddings! Client meetings in person! Every single thing we’ve all missed over the last 18 months. I love being able to go into The Fungalow, and getting to know the team better. I am also so excited for the journey Story.1888 is about to embark on. It’s such an exciting time for the marketing team, working on client pitches and growing our client base. Despite the pandemic, I honestly think 2021 has been a great year for me personally, and career wise, and I’m so excited to keep heading upwards into 2022.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I’ve lived in 3 different countries. I was actually born in Zimbabwe and lived there for around 6 years, before we moved to the UK (my parents are both British but were working out in Africa). Then in 2009, we upped and moved to the UAE to live in the Abu Dhabi sunshine. I love that I’ve had the experience to learn about different countries and cultures from a young age. I think that’s probably what gives me the love to travel to different places and try new experiences, such as shark diving in South Africa or helicopter rides in Vegas.
